Practical, in-person training for network engineers. Fundamentals covers configuration automation from a source of truth; Advanced takes it into production with APIs, compliance and controlled change.
Both courses are taught in person by a practising network automation engineer, with hands-on labs throughout and classes of 10 to 14 people.
Both courses include practical grounding in using AI tooling to deliver automation at scale.

Both courses run in central London, in person only, from 09:30 to 17:00 with registration from 09:00. Classes are 10 to 14 delegates. A vegetarian lunch and refreshments are included, and delegates who attend the full course receive a Rockwey certificate of completion.
Before you book
A quick word on what these courses are not, so that nobody books the wrong one.
Not a programming course.
You won't be expected to write code from scratch; the scripting exercises start from prepared, working examples.
Not a networking course.
A solid grasp of core networking is assumed on both courses; it is not taught.
Not vendor product training.
The courses teach methods that transfer to any source-of-truth platform, and no vendor sponsors, accredits or endorses them.
Not pure theory.
Hands-on labs run throughout both courses.
Not certification training.
The Rockwey certificate confirms completion of the course; it is not a vendor certification or a professional accreditation.
Not a deployment course at Foundation level.
Fundamentals deliberately stops short of pushing configuration to live devices; deployment and change pipelines belong to Advanced.

Network Automation Fundamentals
A practical, hands-on introduction to network automation. You model a small network in a source of truth, generate device configurations from it and update its data programmatically. Every exercise is guided and every change is previewed before it is committed.
What the course covers
- Modelling sites, racks, devices, interfaces and IP addressing in a source of truth.
- Generating device configurations from structured data with templates.
- Reading and writing data through the source of truth's API, using prepared scripts.
- Idempotency and dry runs: previewing changes before committing them.
- Planning a safe first automation project.
For engineers who run and support networks but have not yet automated them. A solid grasp of core networking is assumed: IP addressing and subnetting, VLANs and routing basics. No automation or programming experience is required.

Network Automation Advanced
Advanced takes the source-of-truth model into production. Over two days you work with REST and GraphQL APIs, integrate with automation frameworks, run compliance checks and build a CI pipeline that validates change before deployment. Most of each day is spent in the lab.
What the course covers
- The source of truth's REST API in depth, and precise read queries with GraphQL.
- Custom fields, scoped configuration data and validation rules for data quality.
- Integrating the source of truth with automation frameworks.
- Compliance checks against intended state across many devices.
- Webhooks and event-driven automation.
- A CI pipeline that gates change before production.
For engineers already generating configuration from a source of truth. You do not need to be a programmer, but every delegate, including those who have completed Fundamentals, needs to be comfortable making REST API calls and understanding the responses; see the prerequisites on the course page.

Training at your premises
We can also deliver these courses at your office or training facility.
We use the same course materials and practical labs as the London courses.
On-site training is charged at a fixed day rate and can be arranged for teams of different sizes. The standard engagement is one of the published courses delivered at your premises; if you need a tailored agenda, we will quote for it separately.
On-site courses can be delivered in the UK or overseas, subject to availability, travel requirements and an agreed scope.
Business bookings
We sell our courses to businesses rather than individuals. To book, we'll need your organisation's legal name and its company or tax registration number. You do not need a UK VAT number.
We may also need a business email address, purchase order number or accounts payable contact.
Payment
Payment is by bank transfer in pounds sterling. UK customers can pay by BACS; international customers can use the IBAN and SWIFT details on the invoice. We accept purchase orders but not card payments. Your place is confirmed once payment clears.
Course information
Each course day runs 09:30 to 17:00, with registration and coffee from 09:00.
Courses run with 10 to 14 delegates. If fewer than 10 places are booked, we will cancel that date. We confirm or cancel each course on its confirmation date, 10 working days before the start, so you have a firm answer before you book travel. Bookings close three working days before the course starts. We cannot accept bookings after that point.
Booked delegates receive joining instructions (venue address, daily timings, building access and a phone number for the day) no later than five working days before the course.
How booking works
- 1. Your company requests a place.
- 2. Rockwey confirms availability.
- 3. Rockwey issues an invoice in pounds sterling.
- 4. The place is secured when payment clears.
- 5. Final venue details and joining instructions are issued.

Certificates and vendor independence
Delegates who attend the full course receive a Rockwey certificate of completion. It is not a vendor certification or a professional accreditation.
An open-source platform is used as the source of truth during the training, and AI tooling features in the labs on both courses. The courses teach methods rather than a product, and the specific tools are confirmed in your joining instructions.
